face to face We trade as MintFirsts Ltd, a company registered in England. George is a long-time member of ABA, ILAB and PBFA. We fully abide by their codes of practice, and proudly observe the highest professional standards. The authenticity of all material offered for sale is guaranteed. Every item is accurately described in expert detail; any defects or restorations are clearly highlighted. We work hard to help buyers make informed decisions.
Orders are usually processed within 2 business days, with an additional 3 to 8 required for delivery, anywhere in the world. Customers outside Europe may occasionally experience longer times, depending on location. We always ship via recorded delivery (signed-for), except when the parcel value is under £25. Postage is determined by weight, value and shipping address: free for high value orders, it is shown half way through our streamlined checkout process, after the destination is confirmed. Books are bubble-wrapped and placed in a cardboard box or a cushioned envelope to ensure they reach you in the same condition they leave us.
We accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Diners, Discover, Elo and UnionPay. You can also choose to pay by bank transfer in pounds sterling, euros, Hungarian forints, as well as American, Canadian, Australian, New Zealand and Singapore dollars. Other payment methods may be made available upon special request, subject to a small service fee. Deferred billing can be arranged for libraries and institutions. Bona fide booksellers are welcome to apply for a trade discount.
All orders are shipped from Greece. This means that book deliveries to both UK and EU destinations will be tax free, Brexit notwithstanding. Other sales may be subject to import duties and taxes, levied at local customs offices. Any such charges are the buyer's own responsibility. As import tariffs vary from country to country, we can neither advise nor compensate for such costs. Customs clearance may also affect delivery times, even where no charge is involved.
Consumers have a legal right to cancel purchases. For a package to be returned, we must be notified by e‑mail within 14 days of receipt. The goods have to then be returned within 14 days, at the buyer's expense. A full refund will be issued as soon as we inspect the returned order. Items obtained by booksellers at a trade discount may only be returned in exceptional circumstances.
While we exclusively use images of the actual books we stock, these are merely indicative of their condition, with definitive details provided in each item's description. We cannot guarantee that items will match the images on display, though they generally do. Book covers and slipcases are scanned, with only cropping applied. Visual features will therefore invariably reflect reality, but some edge details may be trimmed. Inner pages are photographed to illustrate specific aspects such as the edition or an inscription, rather than the book's condition. These images have their tonal balance adjusted to enhance presentation. If you are unsure about an item, send us a quick e‑mail, and we can even share a snap video for that extra reassurance.
