face to face We trade as MintFirsts Ltd, a company registered in England. George is a long-time member of ABA, ILAB and PBFA. We fully abide by their codes of practice, and proudly observe the highest professional standards. The authenticity of all material offered for sale is guaranteed. Every item is accurately described in expert detail; any defects or restorations are clearly highlighted. We work hard to help buyers make informed decisions.
We accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Diners, Discover, Elo and UnionPay. You can also choose to pay by bank transfer in pounds sterling, euros, Hungarian forints, as well as American, Canadian, Australian, New Zealand and Singapore dollars. Other payment methods may be made available upon special request, subject to a small service fee. Deferred billing can be arranged for libraries and institutions. Bona fide booksellers are welcome to apply for a trade discount.
Orders are usually processed within 2 business days, with delivery taking an additional 3 to 8 anywhere in Europe, and 5 to 12 for the rest of the world. Delivery may be delayed due to customs clearance procedures, which vary by country and time of year. We always ship via recorded delivery (signed-for), except when the parcel value is under £25. Postage is determined by weight, value and shipping address: free for high value orders, it is shown half way through our streamlined checkout process, after the destination is confirmed. Books are bubble-wrapped and placed in a cardboard box or a cushioned envelope to ensure they reach you in the same condition they leave us.
All orders are shipped from Greece. Book deliveries to both UK and EU destinations will consequently be duty‑free, Brexit notwithstanding. Deliveries to other regions may be subject to import duties levied by local customs offices, at rates that vary by country and goods value. As is customary, these charges are the buyer's responsibility and we are unable to compensate for them.
Consumers have a legal right to cancel purchases. To return an item, we must be notified by e‑mail within 14 days of receipt. The goods have to then be posted at the buyer's expense to the return address on the shipping label, so that the package reaches us within 12 working days. A full refund will be issued upon satisfactory inspection of its contents. Items obtained by booksellers at a trade discount are not eligible for return barring exceptional circumstances.
We exclusively use images of the actual books we stock, all watermarked with our logo. These images are intended to be merely indicative of condition, as definitive details are provided in the book description. While we cannot guarantee that items will exactly match the images on display, they generally do. Book covers and slipcases are typically scanned, only with minimal cropping applied. Visual features will therefore reflect reality, but some edge details may be trimmed. Inner pages are photographed to illustrate specific aspects, such as an inscription or the edition, with tonal balance adjusted to enhance presentation. If you are unsure about an item, feel free to message us, and we will gladly share a quick photo or video for added reassurance.
