First edition. Slim 8vo. Pp. 59, [1, blank]. Bound in black cloth to spine and rear over decorative paper-covered boards, lettered in silver to spine. With the matching patterned dust jacket [10s. 6d net to front flap]. Poetry Book Society Spring Choice, with the wrap-around band present. Poetry Book Society Bulletin No. 33, dated June 1962, with author's comments, tipped in.
Author's fifth poetry collection, named after the North London suburb where the poet resided since he left his native Wales in the late '50s. In 2003 his New and Collected Poems received the Special Commendation of the Poetry Book Society. Recipient of the 2009 Wilfred Owen Poetry Award, Abse was appointed a Commander of the Order of the British Empire in 2012.
