Roger Fry; illustrated by Vanessa Bell

First edition. 8vo. 23 pp, [1]. Pale blue stitched card covers with a design by Vanessa Bell. No. 16 in the Hogarth Essays [First Series].
Covers marked, rubbed and splitting at spine, else Very Good.
An inter-disciplinary essay on commerce in art. A remarkable polymath, modern Renaissance man, and core member of the Bloomsbury Group, Fry was involved in all aspects of the art market as artist, critic, curator, historian, journalist, consultant to collectors, and gallerist. He is perhaps best known today as the organiser of the two Postimpressionist art exhibitions in London in 1910 and 1912 that introduced Cezanne, Matisse, Van Gogh, and Picasso, to the English-speaking world.
