Some of this collection of poems had previously appeared in Cambridge Opinion, Extra Verse, Migrant, Stand, Sum, Resuscitator, The Yorkshire Post and Young Commonwealth Poets 65.

Largely working outside of the mainstream of post-war British poetry, Fisher's poetry displays modernist influences, while being firmly rooted in the provincial landscape of the English Midlands. In 2003 he was made lifetime Honorary Poet of the City of Birmingham.
