Park City. New and Selected Stories.

First edition of Ann Beattie's Park City. New and Selected Stories.

Ann Beattie

First edition. Large 8vo. Pp. [xii], 478, [1]. Quarter-bound dark blue cloth over blue paper boards, lettered in gilt to spine; rough-cut fore-edges. Dustjacket design by Chip Kidd, with cover art by [her husband] artist Lincoln Perry.
A collection of three dozen stories, spanning a twenty-five year career, with eight of which previously unpublished in book form. After rejecting twenty-two submissions, The New Yorker published Beattie's "A Platonic Relationship" in 1974, since when she has become one of the magazine's most regular contributors.
Joint winner of the 2000 PEN/Malumud Award for Excellence in the Short Story form and recipient of the 2005 Rea Award for the Short Story. "Like a boxed set of Miles Davis CDs [...] both superb in itself and an essential piece of history [...]. [Beattie is] one of our era's most vital masters of the short form."
