A historical novel of witchcraft, superstition and anarchy, based on a true story, which took place in 1895 in Co. Tipperary, Ireland. The offspring of two writers, Carlo Gébler published a poignant autobiography, Father and I: a memoir (2000), about Czech-Irish writer Ernest Gébler, while his relationship with his mother, emblematic Irish author Edna O'Brien, could best be described as 'strained'.
