First translation in English of three of Kazantzakis's dramatic works. Two are based on classical Greek legends, the third is Kazantzakis's version of Columbus's epic voyage to the New World, with all three concerned with man's struggle to overcome fate and to triumph over his own weaknesses. Melissa was originally published in 1939 in the pages of the literary review Nea Estia (Jan-Apr) with Kouros following in 1955 (Nov-Dec), and the former also issued as an off-print. Christopher Columbus was first published in 1956 by Difros, Athens, in volume C' of Theatro.
