Half fiction, half diatribe, £9.99: A Novel is a satiric exposé of advertising and consumerism by writer, commentator, literary critic and pundit, Frédéric Beigbeder. Originally published as 99 francs by Grasset (and retitled 14,99 euro after the introduction of the euro) it was filmed in 2007 by director Jan Kounen.
Broadly autobiographical, Beigbeder was fired from his advertising job following the book's release. The writer was awarded the Prix Renaudot in 2009 for his autobiographical novel Un roman français. "A stylistic cross between American Psycho and South Park." –Time
